Hi,

As some of you may remember, I'm one of the unfortunate GL811e-based HDD
enclosure owners, who are trying to use it under Linux... And with my desktop
PC, even with all the recent patches discussed in this list, the bloody box
crashes constantly on writing attempts... However, there are some interesting
news: The thing is that I've just got a PCMCIA USB2 adapter for my laptop
(NEC based from Adaptec) and there the enclosure seems to work with the stock
2.6.4 kernel from Suse (which crashes the drive on my desktop). The amazing
thing is that it works there really nicely, showing rather good transfer
rates... So, the message is that

***THE GENESYS PROBLEM IS SOMEHOW RELATED TO THE HOST ADAPTER***

That's probably why not **everybody**, who has Genesys devices sees that
problem and some fixes help to some people, but not to everyone. But how is
that possible?

Anyways, that's all I've found out so far.

Regards,
Max
