I don't know. Maybe just messages about URBs for 1-0:1.0 failing with various error codes... It's possible that this has something to do with it, but I can't think what. After all, you say everything works if ehci-hcd isn't loaded beforehand. So the actions of the boot-kernel version of uhci-hcd don't seem to hurt anything, although those actions might be different depending on whether or not the EHCI controller was enabled. There are still two mysteries to solve: Why and when does the PORT_OWNER bit get turned off, and why doesn't the resulting UHCI get handled by khubd? I can't think of a good way to attack the first, so I'm concentrating on the second.
