I'm trying to get usbtest + test.sh work with an EZ-USB FX board running the usbtest_fw.ihx firmware (an unmodified one; not one built by me), but when the usbtest driver tries to set interface 0, alternate setting 1, the board STALLs (after 20 or so NAKs) and the usbtest driver reports "drivers/usb/misc/usbtest.c: couldn't get endpoints, -32".
Hm, strange. I hooked up the EZ-USB FX board to an external power supply (so that it would retain the firmware when I disconnect the USB cable), and lo and behold: if I physically disconnect the board after loading the usbtest_fw.ihx firmware and then reconnect, the usbtest driver recognizes the device:
usbtest 3-1:1.0: full speed {control in/out bulk-in bulk-out iso-in iso-out} tests (+alt)
but tests 14 through 16 fail:
/proc/bus/usb/003/067 test 14 --> 22 (error 22) /proc/bus/usb/003/067 test 15 --> 33 (error 33) /proc/bus/usb/003/067 test 16 --> 33 (error 33)
I'll continue investigating.
