I compiled linux-2.6.12-rc3 with your patch. It was necessary to apply an unrelated patch (http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/4/19/68) to resolve a compile error. I also routinely patch with hostap drivers (also unrelated but I thought I'd mention all variables).
With my first attempt, it doesn't NOT appear that the SL-5600 is recognized on hotplug. At least, the usbnet module is loaded but not bound to the usb0 interface. /var/log/messages: Apr 26 16:57:38 stewie kernel: usb 1-6.1: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7 Apr 26 16:57:43 stewie kernel: usb 1-6.1: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8 Apr 26 16:57:44 stewie logger: /etc/hotplug/usb/usbnet: assuming SL-5600 Apr 26 16:57:44 stewie kernel: usb 1-6.1: unsupported MDLM descriptors ___ Ken On Fri, Apr 22, 2005 at 09:02:02AM -0700, David Brownell wrote: > Grr, wrong patch.
