I've heard this from a number of different people, yet never been able
to figure out what happened.

I think this is a userspace issue, as it looks like your kernel is
working properly.  Care to ask the pilot-link people about this?

Also, they have a version that doesn't use the visor driver at all
anymore, you might want to see if that works better for you.
