It's a little unusual for usbcore.old_scheme_first to matter for so many
different kinds of devices.  Do these devices work without that module
parameter if they are plugged into the rear USB ports?  Do the devices
work when attached to a system running Windows?

I wonder if this might be caused by some timing problem.  Maybe it has 
been fixed in 2.6.12.
