Not explicitly, but my driver probe routine checks the interface so this should be already binded. I based my driver on the structure of others, so I don't think this is required.

Nope, not other than its manufactured by Digital Persona and I expect the hardware is very similar to their UareU 4000 device.
Depending on your plans for such a device, writing a sane backend could be another option (scanner/webcam).
Maybe, I'm hoping to be able to extract images from it and then use the BioAPI stuff (www.linuxbiometrics.com) to do fingerprint recognition. I haven't really looked that far just yet anyway :)
