I'm building usb as modules. I can reconfirm this when I get home, but I remember doing a cycle without usb loaded and seeing no problems on resume. Once I run usb start, the messages began, once I ran usb stop, the messages stopped. IIRC, I also insmoded and rmmoded individual modules and it was usbmouse that made the messages start.
