As a suggestion, instead of trying to rip a timeout here and there, you may be better served by trying the stick on a desktop with 2.6.14 (I assume your 2.4.16 above was a typo). If those changes work, then you have a case for diffing and divide-by-half. Otherwise, it's a waste of effort. Also, please do consider taking BCP for the platform and moving _that_ to 2.6.15. But overall, I am not optimistic. If device NAKs, both usb-storage and ub will be unhappy.
