I also had the same problems with 2.6.17 (stock Ubuntu edgy).  Both
computers work fine with the (older) Palm Tungsten C.

Yes, I could in a few days.

I did. Failed on two different computers.  Actually, three if I
include an older Debian stable still running a 2.4 kernel (with a
win4lin patch) which had no problems with an older Treo 300. 

So maybe visor.c deserves a second look?
