This is not a bugfix for a regression, nor a bugfix for something that
is currently not working. And as such, it is too late right now in the
release cycle to get it accepted into Linus's tree.

And again, I'll wait for Al to say it is ok, and then I'll give it some
time in the -mm tree, like all other USB patches have happen.

No one sent me such a patch for way back in 2.6.19, that is why it
didn't go in then.

And the USB fixes that have gone in after 2.6.21-rc2 came out, have all
been either:
        - bugfixes for problems reported
        - bugfixes for regressions
        - new device ids
        - new quirks added

This patch changes the userspace behavior of how to use this driver, and
as such, does not fall into these categories. It is a feature, for
right now, the device and driver works just fine without it.

And yes, I can see how it would be nice to have this change in, but
again, it's a _change_ not a bugfix, and not a regression from the
2.6.20 kernel release at all.

So please, just be patient. Wait for Al to forward it to me, with his
signed-off-by: and then I'll add it to my trees.

thanks,
