Hello, Perhaps best explained with some dmesg output:
[ 48.309884] usbcore: registered new interface driver speedtch [ 48.332337] PPP generic driver version 2.4.2 [...] [ 108.304338] speedtch 2-1:1.0: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin [ 108.479843] speedtch 2-1:1.0: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin.0.00 [ 113.011604] ATM dev 0: ADSL line is synchronising [ 123.450276] ATM dev 0: DSL line goes up [ 123.466258] ATM dev 0: ADSL line is up (1536 kb/s down | 256 kb/s up) This output is of 2.6.22-rc2, but the same happens with 2.6.21. So there's a (suspicious) gap of 60 seconds between loading the speedtch driver and finding the firmware. With 2.6.20 this used to be 10 seconds. Just booted different kernel versions to verify, so it can't be a user space issue. The kernel config may have changed slightly between 2.6.20 and later kernels, but I doubt that causes this. If anyone has an idea what could cause this, and even better, has a fix, I'd like to hear about it. (Please don't yell "git bisect", that hurts. No time for that anyway, maybe later this week.)
