There is a Visor Linux USB HOWTO at:
        http://milosch.net/visor/howto.phtml

If reading that doesn't help, try enabling usb-serial debugging (it's a
kernel config item) rebuilding the modules, and sending me / the list
the kernel debug log of you trying to sync.

Other things to remember:
        - try just a
                pilot-xfer -l
right after pressing the hotsync button to see if that works
before moving up to jpilot or kpilot.
        - the Platinum only shows up as a USB device for a _very_ short
time, so you have to be quick after pressing the sync button.
        - there is a Visor USB Linux specific mailing list where lots of
          people can help you at:
                http://usbvisor.sourceforge.net/

Hope this helps,
