I don't think that this device will work with the generic serial usb
driver (which is for devices that do not use baud rates or flow
control.)

Ask Xircom for the specs to the protocol that they use in the device, or
use a USB sniffer to reverse engineer the protocol from a Windows
machine.  That is what is needed to get a driver for Linux to work with
this device.
