[Linux-usb-users] webcam setting up

Hello, I am new to usb device in linux. currntly, I met problems to set up webcam, quickcam and philips TOUCam, neither of them work. Please help me this out, I use RedHat 7.1 beta, kernel 2.4.1, I downloaded driver for philips tou cam, however, everytime I followed the instruction and recompiled the kernel, I got usb then cannot work, ethernet cannot work, but I choose ohci and other related item on.   I don't know why this recompilation made system worse, I just turned webcam related choices on. thanks
