hmmm...
it seems like it does not want to work.
I recompiled the kernel again, doublechecked I had the Preliminary USB
device filesystem enabled. but I still can't see /proc/bus/usb/devices.
I also updated to the ov511-1.40 version.
as for usb, I get the correct messages, but:
- I try and run webcam, get this error:
v4l2: open /dev/video0: can't allocate memory
v4l: open /dev/video0: can't allocate memory
then
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no grabber device available
and dmesg gives me:
uhci: host controller halted. very bad
my uhci controller is compiled in the kernel not as module.
other problem: when I try to make w3cam, i get
[root@localhost w3cam]# make
gcc -g -O2 -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/X11/include -DHAVE_LIBM=1
-DHAVE_LIBZ=1 -DHAVE_LIBPNG=1 -DHAVE_LIBJPEG=1 -DHAVE_LIBTTF=1
-DVIDEO_DEV=\"/dev/video0\" -DVERSION=\"0.6.6\" -c -o w3cam.o w3cam.c
w3cam.c:51:22: freetype.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [w3cam.o] Error 1
it's driving me mad...
