Hi all, I'm brand new to this list so forgive me if this is a FAQ. I did look through the archives and couldn't find anything.
On a Linux 2.4.12 system, I'm using a iodata 60GB USB drive (the internal drive is actually a Western Digital) that supports both USB 1.1 and 2.0. Anyway, I've got it connected and working with Linux but access is VERY slow. According to hdparm and real-world results I'm getting just over 1 Mbit access speeds. That is, about 1/10th of what USB 1.1 should provide. My MB is a Tyan Tiger 133 so therefore only has support for USB 1.1 but, as mentioned, I'm not getting anywhere near the theoretical limit for USB 1.1. I've tried both the usb-uhci and the uhci modules and there is no apparent difference. Anything else I should try? One other thing, I've had a few system freezes while using USB. They seemed to occur when doing multiple things at the same time. For example, I had a large copy running and at the same time tried to do a 'du' and a 'df' on the USB drive. After this the entire system froze and required a hard reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --Rainer _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
