After doing that it no longer kernel panics and will let me set an IP
address for the device.  I do have one other question however,  the
device keeps loading itself and unloading itself and I am wondering
why.  when it does this it looses any IP configuration that I have set
for it, along with throwing a large amount of text to the console.  Now
I assume it might possibly be doing this because I do not have the cable
connection yet (that will be hooked up tonight).
