[Disclaimer: some/all of this information may be wrong as it is
guesswork from a newby.]

Using Mandrake 8.1. This didn't happen on Mandrake 7(.0?), I guess
because there was no USB support.

Whenever I shutdown I get

usb.c: USB disconnect on device 1
usb.c: USB disconnect on device 2

and then the PC freezes. The only USB device I have (AFAIK) is Intel
82801AA USB (I _think_ it's a soundcard integrated into the motherboard;
this motherboard also has the graphics card integrated into it: Intel
810).

The PC in question is an HP Pavillion. The device in question I think is
not important as, trolling through the newsgroups, I have found people
with similar complaints about Palm m505, Logitec mouse, Alcatel modem,
compact flash readers... What I think they all have in common is that
the USB is integrated into the motherboard (UHCI?).

Any ideas on how to fix/workaround this?

Cheers, Sposh.
