I just ran into the case where there was no device info on the vendor/product with my new Sharp Zaurus handheld. Some other folks more knowledgeable than I had to add the info, and make a patch for the CDCEther driver in the kernel. The device driver creates a USB ethernet connection between the linux desktop and the handheld in the cradle. I also just bought a cheapo USB CF reader ($25 at BestBuy, but I can't remember the brand name. It's the same brand as the cheapo flash memory). I'll post my results after I try it out.
