What does /var/log/messages say? Does it recognize the device? Does ist connect the device to anything? Perhaps you could post what happens when you connect your player. I have similar problems here with my Pontis-SP-600-MP3-Player. Its recognized, connected to sda1 but the mount-command hangs :-((( I dont know why. And my Pontis is not listed in the USB-Devices-list.
