Thanks. The driver looks good, but the printer is not even enumerated 
correctly by the usb system.

That matches - the printer driver doesn't think that the device is actually 
present.

I am not sure. I think that the problem is associated with the timeout error. 
Can you upgrade to a 2.4.19-pre2 or later patch?
