Why did you create /dev/usb/usbTTYx when you linked /dev/usb/ttyUSB0? Try creating /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 and /dev/usb/ttyUSB1. And you should be setting /dev/pilot to ttyUSB1, as the kernel log shows.
