CD/DVD use more power than 3.5" drive.

I suggest you getting 5.25" enclosure.

I got mine 5.25" USB 2.0 fromXtreme PC gear www.xpcgear.com

Works very well for me. 

I paid for it $72+S&H+tax (in CA) but since it is selling very
well they rose the prices.

I put inside $35 24x10x10 Cendyne CD-writer I bought from
OfficeMAx and it works very well.

I had a serious problem just once but this was with Samsung drive
which broke few hours later so I am not sure whether the problem
was with the eclosure - probably just with the drive.
