I am having problems with the usb-uhci driver, mainly bulk timeouts.
On first plugging of the camera there are no error messages[1]. Second plugging there is the "device not accepting new address" message that I have seen lots of reports about[2]. When attempting to access the camera with gphoto2 I get an unspecified error, dmesg reveals a bulk timeout message[3]. Altering the BIOS settings to "Plug and Play OS" = NO seems to reduce the number of "device not accepting new address" errors on the first plug, but I can still reproduce the error by unplugging and plugging again. I have seen this message in many posts in various places, trawling google. >From messages I have seen on linux-usb-devel, it appears that the problem persists in 2.5, although I am downloading 2.5.19 now. There does not seem to be any bug tracker I can enter a bug in here, but I strongly believe that there is some bug that is causing UHCI to fail, particularly on VIA hardware. Could someone tell me if this is a bug that is known and acknowledged? I can try and do any debugging people might wish, although I do have a rather slow modem for downloading kernels.
