I sent this message once before, but it hasn't shown up yet. Sorry if
this ends up being a duplicate post. The original was fairly long,
since I included a bunch of kernel debugging logs, and so might have not
passed muster on any size restrictions this list might have. I've cut
them off to just the last bit. Hopefully it will still provide enough
information.

I have an HP CD-Writer+ 8290 that I have been using with no problems
reading and writing CDRs, but recently I've had a need to write CDRWs.
I can read a CDRW that I have written on another device with no
problems, but when I attempt to write one, cdrecord hangs, and even a
kill -9 will not kill it. I'm running RedHat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.9-31,
and I've compiled the kernel with USB and USB Storage debugging. I've
tried the cdrecord 1.10 that shipped with RedHat, as well as compiling
it myself. I've also tried cdrecord 1.11a24, but that caused kernel
panics.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Any pointers on getting this
working?

Thanks
Mike
