I don't know about the rest of that stuff, but this one is easier: * There is no requirement for a device to do high speed (or even full speed) to be compatible with the USB 2.0 spec. USB 2.0 didn't add to USB 1.1, it replaced it with a different design. * There are some card reader designs (by Genesys, I think) that can do high speed. What are the descriptors for your device?
