It's not the standard 2.4.18 package .. http://www.pixel8r.demon.co.uk/linux/vaiou1.html .. gives more details. To cut a long story short, the Vaio has some quirks. A guy in Japan took the Kondara 2.1 (kernel 2.4.18) installation and added some patches to make it work with the U1. He built a kernel and all the drivers, and then packaged them all up in an RPM. So, I installed Kondara, and then installed his RPM over the top of the stock install. And then installed 2 more RPMs with the new header and source files. I don't have any reason to believe that he patched the USB drivers .. so I *assume* they're fairly stock.
