Hello, I am having some trouble getting the RTL8150 USB ethernet driver to work under the following conditions, and am looking for any advice that you could provide...
I started with an out of the box Redhat 7.3 (2.4.18-3) installation. After locating the rtl8150 driver, and understanding that it comes with the 2.4.19 kernel, I downloaded 2.4.19 and recompiled, compiling USB support and the USB controller in the kernel, and the rtl8150 driver as a module. Upon boot, the USB subsystem detects the adaptor, displaying the maufacturer, model, etc...along with all of the information corresponding to the rtl8150 entry in modules.usbmap, but gives the error that "usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0xbda/0x8150) is not claimed by any active driver). I assume that this is because the rtl8150 module has not yet been loaded. Once I boot up, I check 'lsmod' with no results, so I 'insmod' the driver and it shows in the list, but as "(unused)". No matter what I seem to do I cannot get the nic to work.... Getting frustrated, confused...any help greatly appreciated.
