Thanks very much for your quick reply... I followed your comment but still having problem... :-(

You need to read the documentation (FAQ or Linux > USB guide, both on http://www.linux-usb.org) for how to mount it. Okay, I successfully mounted usbfs to /proc/bus/usb and I could find two files named drivers & devices. The devices file shows that the system did detect my logitech wheel mouse but when I try "startx" it says that /dev/input/mice does not exist. > > 2. and why doesn't my mouse properly configured? > Because you are using the usbmouse driver, despite lots of documentation to > the contrary. Try the hid driver. I unloaded usbmouse driver and used the hid driver only but the problem persisted. One more thing which is odd to me is... if I configure the mouse device to /dev/psaux, then I can run "startx". It seems that the system detects my usb mouse as a ps/2 mouse... But with my mouse configured as a standard ps/2 mouse, I couldn't use my wheel at all even if I configured it as IMPS/2 with the proper setting when using wheel mouse. So I had to set it a plain PS/2 2-button mouse. :-( Any idea on this situation?
