First, I am not on this list as I am not sure how and if I can get it
(my info is solely from
http://www2.one-eyed-alien.net/~mdharm/linux-usb/) so please also answer
me directly and/or let me know how to get on the list.
I am the owner of a HP8230e USB CDRW drive that I have not been
successful in getting to work with Linux. I was very thrilled when I
discovered support, though marked as experimental, in the standard Linus
Linux kernel, where I am always running the latest, eg. right now 2.5.61.
Attempting to use Mr.Jrgs latest cdrtools (mkisofs, cdrecord) I wasn't
successful and talking directly to Jrg he had less than kind words to
say about Linux and the USB support here :-)
So, could anyone here tell me about the possibility to use that drive
with Linux? Success- and failure stories?
My only wish is to use it to store files and data for backup, possibly
multisession on CD-R, but even that isn't a must and I have no special
desire to use it for music CD copying in case that makes it easier.
Thanks in advance,
Peter
