I am running Red Hat 9, which comes with kernel 2.4.20-8. The usb all works fine. I just recently recompiled a 2.4.20 kernel I downloaded from kernel.org and now my usb mice don't work.

When I compiled the kernel from source I used the config file /boot/config-2.4.20-8 and everything compiled fine. When I boot using the new kernel, my usb scanner works as it should and all my usb mice (1 wireless optical, 1 with trackball and wire) are detected both at boot up and after I hotplug/unplug them, but the pointer doesn't move.

Everything works fine when I boot into kernel 2.4.20-8, but not when I boot into my compiled 2.4.20. The mouse doesn't work in X or the console.

I really don't know what config files to post, I'm using a program called usbview that I found on freshmeat to list the status of all my devices. When I do a 'cat /dev/inputs/mice' I don't see anything either from the kernel I compiled.

-thanx, ryan
