YOu don't say what you upgraded from, but I suspect you've changed the kernel and I think you'll need to upgrade it again to get it working reliably. You may have to be patient, even in the stable kernels USB support is still suffering manu changes as development proceeds. If you can try kernel 2.6.0-test1 your experience might help everyone.
