You downloaded "usb_linux7.2.zip" I guess.
To unzip it, use 'unzip usb_linux7.2.zip', giving:
slmdm-2.04-00_20mdk.i386.rpm
slmdm-usb-2.04-00_20mdk.i386.rpm
Hm, these binary RPMs are for Mandrake 7.2 apparently. Somewhat old.
I have no idea whether they will work for SuSE 8.1, but I doubt it.
To give it a shot, as root, enter:
rpm -i slmdm-2.04-00_20mdk.i386.rpm
and
rpm -i slmdm-usb-2.04-00_20mdk.i386.rpm
