It does not answer when you do what exactly?

If you really think it's akernel issue, please try a current
2.6.0-test kernel.

Is this your scanner? What did you do when it happened? Was the
scanner module loaded?

Looks like it was detected correctly. You don't seem to have the
scanner module loaded but with libusb it should also work.

So even scanimage found it.

Not detected by the scanner driver ("Driver=(none)"). Do you use the
scanner driver or libusb with 2.4.20? Please try both with 2.6.0-test,
also.

What happens when you try to scan (as root, to avoid permission
problems):

scanimage >image.pnm
