Hi,

I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I am trying to use a Haansecure 32MB USB flash drive without too much luck :-(

Reading from the device works fine (after a file has been written using a windows machine), but I cannot get a file written to the device. (Except once when 'touch a' left a file 'a' on the device.) I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. The software and procedures I have used are documented below:

Software: linux 2.4.18 and 2.4.20
Procedure:
1) make menuconfig - enable SCSI disc support, usb support (module), uhci and usb storage support.
2) make modules; make modules_install
3) modprobe usb-uhci; modprobe usb-storage
(flash device is detected and partition sda1 is registered)
4) mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
5) touch /mnt/b
6) ls /mnt
(b is listed as a file)
7) sync
8) umount /mnt
9) mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
10) ls /mnt
(file 'b' is gone)

No matter what I do, it seems as though writes do not take place (although the red light goes on on the flash device when I do a sync). I also have no idea how the one write did work.

Does anybody have any ideas what might be going wrong, or how I could go about debugging the problem?

Thanks,
Justin

PS - I am not on-list, please CC me in replies!
