Hi Justin,

I think I've a very similar problem. I got an mp3 player with 128 MB
internal storage. I'm running 2.4.18-18.7.x (Redhat) and the mp3
player is recognized as
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms
T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 32 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0ed1 ProdID=7634 Rev=10.00
S: Manufacturer=TGE
S: Product=Digital MP300F Audio Player
S: SerialNumber=??4?6?4?A?012345
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=08(stor.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=usb-storage
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=04(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms

Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: SigmaTel Model: MP300F Player Rev: 0100
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

I can mount the (v)fat filesystem and I'm able to write to the fs.
After umount'ing and disconnecting from my laptop the files are still
on the mp3 player (e.g. I can play the mp3 song). BUT when I reconnect
the player the file simply disappears (very magic).

Files which are copied to the player from a windows box don't
disappear. Neither does files which I copy with mtools (mcopy) instead
of mounting the filesystem...
Maybe you can try mtools as well.

I really don't know what's going on here.

Regards,
Bernhard
