Ganesh B: Please share which fs `mount` reports mounted on the device you're hot-unplugging while reading. For example, here I have:
$ mount | grep '/dev/hda[12]' /dev/hda2 on / type ext3 (rw) /dev/hda1 on /boot type ext3 (rw) $ > 3) > May I please know your view, as to whether Myself I have not yet heard that hot un/plugging usb-storage works well before lk 2.6, nor that hot unplugging while mounted works in any lk. Some Google and marc.theaimsgroup.com searches tell me I'm wrong to think recently in linux-fsdevel I saw discussion of fs that did cope well with unplugging while mounted, including mention of ext3 journaling and fs designed for hot-pluggable flash. > the device driver for USB Floppy ... is > supposed to detect this removal of device when > it is in read() system call? I term this "hot unplugging". > (either emulated SCSI disc driver or > main USB floppy driver) I do not know specifically which drivers you mean. > ... I wonder if, to create a question worth reading for the People Who Know, we indeed do have to reformulate the Subject line and the content of this thread in accord with the culture described by such sources as: kernelnewbies need not apply http://plavarre.blog-city.com/read/391421.htm How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html The linux-kernel mailing list FAQ http://www.tux.org/lkml/ I have accordingly deleted the until-now quiet individuals from the cc list of this post.
