Hello all together!

Since the FAQ on http://www.linux-usb.org/FAQ.html#ts1 say to submit an
entry to the mailinglist if a workaround has been found for a problem,
here is one:

I was trying to connect a Delkin eFilm Reader4 (for SmartMedia Cards)
which has the Sandisk ImageMate SDDR-09 chipset inside.
It was all fine until i started to access the files on the SmartMedia
Card. Everytime i tried to access a file, some bytes were read, and then
no more access to the files was possible.

After some crashes of the machine (Sony Vaio Laptop -- great thing) i
used the latest kernel form the gentoo universe (linux-2.4.22-gentoo-r5)
and the chrashes did not occur anymore.

But the Problem remained.

After some hours of investigation on the net, the last thing i tried was
to use the usb-uhci instead of the uhci module. IT WORKED WITHOUT ANY
PROBLEMS. All the points which were nasty (long mounting time, long file
system access) also disappered.

Conclusion:
The uhci module worked fine except the access to files was not possible
(which isnt fine at all).
With the usb-uhci module EVERYTHING worked w/out any problems.

Hope this helps some troubled souls.

Best Regards

astifter
