Ok, I think I really deserved that whack with the clue-bat, Ged. =) Besides I got it working. So for the completeness of the archive, here's what I did wrong: The usb host controller moduel names have changed from 2.4 to 2.6, and somehow I missed that when reading up on 2.4 vs 2.6. So a simple 'modprobe uhci-hcd' got my mouse all working again. Another small gothca is that the mouse device is found in /dev/input/mouse0. It was question 7, in the faq[0] that got me thinking. Actually I had already browsed the FAQ before posting my question. But the FAQ really seemed to be outdated, it only mentions 2.4 and 2.5 - not the final 2.6, so I assumed that it had not been maintained for a while. Well anyhow, Ged, thank you for your patience with us clueless lusers, and thanks again for the hint on how to find the problem.
