USB requires a rather speedy CPU. If your P1 is less that 100MHz then you
might be out of luck, certainly for USB2 and perhaps even USB1. The USB
FAQ says if your machine was from before 1998 your machine probably
doesn't support USB. THey also have a "usbready" application to check your
machine, but of course that only runs on windows.
