1) from KDE with Konqueror : 7s (~280 ko/s) 2) from Gnome with Nautilus: 30s (~60 ko/s) 3) from the console with cp: 50s (~40 ko/s)
The correct speed is done when using KDE, the other two are very very slow. Does anybody has already seen this ???
Maybe KDE has some kind of internal buffering which causes data not actually written on disk until unmount?
Anyway, I've Pontis SP600 mp3 player which has USB mass storage interface. If it's mounted with async option, file transfer hangs often. To get files transferred correctly, a mount option 'sync' is needed. Maybe this helps in your case too?
I have provided the fstab line, the drive is mounted with option sync.
And after copying with KDE, the unmounting is done immediately with no delay, which means that data was really written.
