Hello,
After a few months, decided to try a Webcam within my linux environment. So I bought a Logitech QuickCam Express USB.
(a HP deskjet 916c is also connected through USB, both devices are using a dedicated connector at motherboard)
Running RedHat enterprise server, found that the HP printer (USB) was recognised and installed correctly.
The QuickCam Express USB was not.
So as work around, immediatly installed Mandrake 9.1 still in an enthousiastic mood,
but unfortunatly the WebCam USB is also not recognised.
The USB camera is not detected, driver - basic functionality - not available ?,
tried to find which driver i needed and was overwelmed with input information on the WWW.
But can not find any relationship between HW driver & corresponding - REDHAT nor Mandrake package.
Any advice or methodology on how to start up the basic camera functionality will be appreciated,
usbviewer => USB UHCI ROOT HUB
+ unkown device (vendor id 046d productid 0920 )
+ Deskjet ....( ...)
Get a little bit annoyed about linux installation and the lack of device drivers.
What am I overlooking, or even doing wrong ? Can I kindly ask a little bit attention and support/guidance from you ?
(Do not want to give up, although quiting now seems to be the easiest for me now,
based on the sunny whether conditions of course.
Hope that the sun will shine soon also for my webcam linux context)
Looking forward to your advice.
Sincerely,
