Hello, I've just bought a digital camera, and I am trying to get it work under Linux. The camera is a Minolta DiMAGE G400.
To get access to the camera, I have built a new kernel with the following configuration: CONFIG_SCSI=m CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=m CONFIG_SCSI_QLA2XXX=m CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=m In /etc/fstab, I have defined the following entry: /dev/sda1 /dimage auto defaults,user,noauto 0 0 When I plug in the camera, I can see that it is correctly recognized as /dev/sda1. I have observed the following problem: If operating from the console (no Gnome session started), I can properly copy/move files from/to the camera (cp and mv commands). Fine! BUT... as soon as I open a Gnome session, and then even if operating from the console (not a gnome terminal, I really mean the console, CTRL-ALT-F1...) I will get some error messages about timeouts: kernel: usb 2-1: control timeout on ep0out or kernel: usb 2-1: control timeout on ep0in So, it seems the problem is related to the Gnome session. Does anybody have similar issues? If so, how can it be solved (if possible)? I have to make the system easily useable by my wife, and Nautilus is needed for that purpose, I can't ask her to kill her Gnome session and do it from a console... It is a pity that with XP you just plug the camera and it works out of the box, and that under Linux it will take me days to get the same result :-( Thanks for your help.
