Your log had about a hundred copies of the same error message. It was a Medium Error, meaning that for some reason the drive wasn't able to write on the disc. Your device is coming up with lots and lots of errors, and they all seem to be hardware-related in one way or another. Problems communicating over USB, spontaneous disconnection, unable to write... None of these sound like the sort of thing that can be cured in software. You could try doing some more hardward-oriented testing. For example, plug the drive into a different USB port, or better yet, a whole different computer. Try plugging a different USB device into that port and see if it experiences any similar problems.
