This does almost exactly the same thing as the earlier patch from July. Have you tried using that patch with 2.6.7? You can download the patch from http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-devel&m=109069796003168&w=2 It worked with Luc Dijon's Sony DCR-HC40(E). But if it doesn't work with your DCR-TRV255E then it's likely the new patch won't work either.
