I'll need more detailed information about the problem first. Please turn on the usb-storage verbose debugging option in your kernel configuration, and then send the dmesg output showing what happens when you plug in the device. Also send the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices showing the entry for the device. Also, you can try running 2.6.9, just recently released. Maybe it will help.
