Actually, I used a software one that was free.  All you needed was a
windows box with 2 serial ports with full control.  This was many many
years ago back in the windows 98 / NT4 days.  It was also pretty
simple, but all you normally needed was a dump of the traffic and
state of hardware flow control signals anyways right.

Yeah, but at least we know that one of the fedora changes caused the
problem.  So the culprit could be found via diff.

If you find out whats wrong please let me know, I would be interested.
 Unfortunatly, I do not have the time to investigate further myself
which is why I stayed with a vanilla kernel once it worked (although
sound doesn't work as well without the fedora patches.)
