Do you still have symptoms like that? > > Alan Stern Hello Alan, Life has been too hectic the past week or so to attend to this, but time is opening up :-) Today, I plugged in the enclosure with the Cypress chipset, which logged: Dec 25 16:30:45 osage kernel: usb 4-2: new high speed USB device using address 16 Dec 25 16:30:45 osage kernel: scsi14 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices As a first observation, it seems to me there should be more messages than that. "lsmod" shows the following relevant modules installed: sd_mod 19232 0 usb-storage 65504 0 scsi_mod 104044 4 sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,usb-storage ehci-hcd 26244 0 uhci-hcd 28752 0 usbcore 103172 5 usb-storage,ehci-hcd,uhci-hcd Lastly, "cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" is hanging, which I've confirmed by running ps: ... text.l D+ pts16 0:00 cat /proc/bus/usb/devices What additional information would be useful to you? What additional tests can I run to help out? If needs be, I can modify/rebuild usb modules. Cheers!
