I might give it a whirl myself. My problem with this stems from having a number of different pendrives (from different manufacturers) in the family. Unless usb-storage is rmmod'd when the drive is removed, any subsequent attempt to mount any other pendrive fails. I had to frig around with the hotplug functions to get it to rmmod the driver when the device is removed.
